Tree Planting Ceremony Outline

1. Opening and Welcome

  • Welcome participants, introduce the purpose of the event

  • Brief overview of the importance of trees, soil, and earth regeneration

2. Opening Ritual with Four Directions

  • Welcome the four directions:

  • All Hands Circle:

    • Participants form a large circle

    • Brief moment of silence or meditation

    • Each person places their hands in the center, symbolizing unity and connection to the earth

3. Planting the Central Breadfruit Tree

  • Gather around the central planting site

  • Leader or elder shares a short story or significance of breadfruit and planting

  • All participants together plant the central breadfruit tree

    • Use traditional or symbolic planting practices

    • Offer a collective prayer or blessing for growth and abundance

4. Breakout into Groups for Tree Planting

  • Divide participants into 4-5 groups

  • Each group takes responsibility for planting around 4-5 trees (total of 20+ trees)

  • Guidance for planting:

    • Clearing, digging, planting, watering, and caring for each tree

    • Incorporate cultural or spiritual rituals if desired

5. Refreshment Break

  • Light snacks and drinks

  • Opportunity for informal sharing and camaraderie

6. Reflection on Importance & Education

  • Gather all groups back together

  • Share brief talks or testimonials on:

    • The importance of trees for climate, ecosystems, and communities

    • Soil health and regeneration

    • The collective role of participants in healing the Earth

7. Closing Ceremony & Gratitude

  • Express gratitude to all participants, elders, and organizers

  • Recap the significance of planting trees, soil, and earth regeneration

  • Encourage ongoing stewardship and care

  • End with a unifying song
